Civil rights comparison
I belive there a big connection between the civil rights movement in america and the freedom movement in egypt. They both along the same lines, not asking for much just looking for fairness in the government and better quality of life all together. They are fighting for freedom even though in america is was soley based on race in egypt factors include race, religion, and gender. They are using simmalar protesting methods some violent and some non violent but are both being abused and treated inhumanely. Egypts consititution (almost like the jim crow laws) states that muslim males are ideal citizens and you will have your basic rights. While if your a female and have any other religion you will be getting the short end of the stick in the dilema. If you think this isn't fair, you had little to no rights in america before 1964 if you were an african american or even from african american decent. The egyptian constitution strictly follows islamic law because Islam is reffered too as the states religion, thats why you can find it being so prejuduce against women and other religions. It contradicts itself often by stating that there is equality and freedom for all but still going back too "without abandoning the judgments of Islamic law". This is like when in the jim crow laws it says "seperate but equal". African Americans and Whites were seperated but they were not treated equal because in other laws African Americans were not even allowed to walk on main roads. With loop holes like the ones in the Egyptian Constitution the probability of seeing another civil rights up roar like the one we had is very high.
